tobias.jpgLast week, Mortal Kombat co-creator John Tobias revealed some Goro sketches via his official Twitter page. John has decided to keep revealing more never-before-seen concepts by releasing a snapshot featuring sketches and notes for Kitsune (Kitana), Liu Kang, and Gongoro (Goro). Also, note how Shang Tsung was originally called "Shang Lao."

A page of ancient notes n doodles and the beginning of what became Kitana from MK1?
Here?s some forgotten MK history? MKII?s Kitana started out as a character called Kitsune in MK1.
I completely forgot about Kitsune until finding this sketch. She wasn?t intended to be a playable fighter.
She was going to fit into the story as Shang Lao?s (Tsung?s) princess daughter - the spoil of victory for winning the tournament.
Of course Shang became a minion of Shao Kahn when the story was expanded for MKII and Kitsune was renamed Kitana and made Kahn's step-child.
Kitsune?s original inspiration? Mariko from @jmechner ?s Karateka. I played that game a ton on my Apple IIc during freshman year of H.S.

I've been following that stuff a while now; it's neat what we don't know about the past!
John Tobias posted the first sketches of Liu Kang, Kano and Raiden on his Twitter account.
Check them.
They are very cool !!!
