MK vs. DCU Nominated In Gametrailers GOTY Awards '08

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe has been nominated in the "Biggest Surprise" category of Gametrailers Game of the Year Awards '08. Some of the other big surprises this year were Final Fantasy XIII on Xbox 360, Halo 3: OSDT, and the Wii's continued console sales domination. Unfortunately, MK vs. DCU lost to Final Fantasy XIII, but it's still great to be nominated and shows that Midway really shook up the gaming kommunity with this installment.

A combination so unlikely that most people took it for a hoax, Midway's title pitting Sub-Zero against Batman was no misfired April's Fool's joke. Disbelief was followed by animosity as many predicted that the team-up would be a disservice to both franchises, but Midway surprised again with the final product. Not only was it one of the most enjoyable Mortal Kombats in years, but the comic book story was actually competent and fun.

It's more funny than sad to me, they brought this upon themselves by rushing.

Watch the Zero Punctuation review of Sonic Unleashed, and apply the way he describes Sonic's character to the Mortal Kombat series. Fits perfectly.
