rumor.jpgNewsarama has updated a previous article posted on December 16th regarding layoffs at Midway. In the update, they claim to have spoken to one of the laid off employees, and apparently, one of teams unaffected by the layoffs, in addition to the MK team, is another team working on a new Mortal Kombat adventure game.
Speaking exclusively to Newsarama on the condition of anonymity, one of the laid off employees has given us more details. The layoffs in Chicago have affected all but two teams there, leaving the Mortal Kombat team and a team working on a Mortal Kombat adventure game.

Hell yeah dude, not only is the MK Team staying afloat but now they're working on a new game? Fuck yeah!
Adventure games? Hmm

I got nothing to think about. I'm still surprise they are still managing to work on another game.

Its obviously we want the blood and gore back. It been too long.

Mythologies and Shaolin Monks didn't skip out on the blood, so there's really no need to worry, but the real question is, is this going to take place in earlier in MK time, or post-Armageddon? I really hope it will be CANON this time! Havik - Roll Eyes

I really hope it will be CANON this time! :rolleyes:That if anything is what I am expecting as well. It has been quite long since Midway has made any canon games. If they decide to make a canon game, I wonder what kind of it will be if it is based on the events after MKA?

And another question will be: what kind of game it will be, what characters are able to be used and what are it's different features?
Am I seeing thing,or that was a rumor about a year and half ago, that Midway develops new MK adventure game for PSP.And it's gonna be about Special Forces again, includin' Jax,Sonya and Kenshi..?
Well,if anyone heard of it,please confirm.
And there was another rumor about that Boon says that they'll make somethin' very similar to MKSM on a next-g platforms...
They should try to do what they do now, alittle. Have two main modes: Adventure and Arcade. Adventure will tell the story and Arcade can stay the traditional bash and smash till kill Shao Kahn/Blaze/Onaga/Deadly Alliance/Dark Kahn and get your character's ending.
Scorpion plz.

I liked Shaolin Monks, so a deeper, more lengthy version of that would be cool.

Agreed.
Yeah, just hopefully they won't RUSH the damn thing like they've been doing since MK:SM.

Because if it lacks replay value like MK:A, I'll hate it.
Ever since MK:Mythologies came out, I've been hoping that they will one day do a game based around Scorpion and his quest to avenge his family.

If just being based around Scorpion is too specific and linear, how about a game based around the rivalry of Scorpion and Sub-Zero?

I totally agree Mortal Kombat:Mythologies Scorpion Would be awesome!

It would be divided in 4 acts:

0.-Prologue-Scorpion's death
1.-The quest for Noob
2.-The quest for Sub-Zero
3.-The quest for Quan Chi

Not with those names of course.

Agreed on the rushing, but I actually liked MK:A and still play it when I can.
What I think about the whole ordeal is that if they're going to release another adventure game, it better have everything that MK was known for having, the blood and gore must return and they need to change the storyline/characters as well, be boring to play the same characters in a new adventure, but it would be exiciting for Midway to switch it up a bit.

Midway was suppose to spice it up during MK vs DC...

I have a 8 year time of patience...
A new game would be kool. and when you say adventure game do you mean like some of the other games like I think it was konquest that had the quest on it. Because that be kool having a game were you can walk around doing stuff and fighting people on the way. And it'd be really kool if it was post Armagedon. Because it'd be right after a huge battle.

Like new bosses and new races

Couldn't have said it better myself, I hope it takes place between MK2 and MK3

Fire/Ice was scratched - not in production
I think they should make a Shaolin Monks part 2 but based more on Ultimate MK3 and MK4! It would be amazing to see the stages and characters of those games would look right now! I really Shaolin Monks because it was highly based on MK1 and MK2 and it showed us every MK2 stage in full 3D and some MK1 stages. Now that was amazing!
