joker_fatality.jpgIt looks like the ESRB has struck again with Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. That amazing Joker fatality where we see him shoot his opponent point-blank in the head has been censored. Apparently, the shooting now takes place off screen.

From Kotaku:
Anyway, it's been changed up a bit, toned down to just slightly less than awesome to secure that highly coveted T-rating that Midway and Warner Bros. are so adamant about. In the latest build, Joker still whips out his prank gun, a "BANG!" flag unfurling. Unfortunately, you won't see the follow up of Joker shooting someone in the face; that actually happens off screen now, the headshot safely out of sight.

Also in the article it is mentioned that one of Kitana's fatalities had to be toned down, as well.
Another Fatality that's seen some revision was Kitana's, one that involved her opponent being impaled by her trademark blade-fans. Initially, the first fan went into the torso, the other into the forehead. That second was a T-rating no-no. Double fans delivered to the chest, however, that's a T-rated way to end someone's life.

I think it really needs to be said - this whole T-Rating Midway and Warner Bros. is shooting for just plain sucks! Off screen killing is lame in movies, and it's even lamer in our Mortal Kombat games! Seriously, what's the point of a fatality if we can't even watch it? I'd much rather have them drop the fatality completely and replace it with a joy buzzer fatality where he electrocutes his opponent. At least we would get to see it...

Well, you just gotta be optimistic about the game itself, don't get me wrong, that whole...turning the game down is just...well its just BALLS.plain and simple, but you DO get to see Sub-Zero put superman through a bunch of walls, thats a win/win situation right there, am I right?
Mortal Kombat is Mortal Kombat, If you tone down the gore, then you are just taking away from what Mortal Kombat is. They are just gonna turn it into a kids game if they keep this up. Mortal Kombat 2 was at its peak, not ONCE has any game been on the same level. I thought maybe this game would be good enough to get somewhere close to that level atleast, but not its gonna get there for sure. God damn-_-
Well that was my rant lol
And I hear the T-Rating Rants coming. A lot of people know how bad the T Rating was going to be on a Mortal Kombat game. And now....eh.

I wasn't exactly proud of the Joker Fatality with the way it look, since there were little blood. But now its gonna be censore? You might as well give him a Brutality, or a Friendship. Pfft. The Joker kills people. The Joker is the worst type of killers...He kills for the thrills. The Joker had put acid on people, rape girls, giving mental unstability, and so much worst things. But he can't fire a gun at someone's head?

T Rating sucks as it is
How do we know Kotaku is even accurate? They've been wrong on many occasions... Maybe "Violence" was turned off in the Options menu...

this is exactly what they did with Robocop, when the third one came out with a PG-13 rating, the entire movie was just suckness

I agree, Kotaku was been wrong more then once and maybe they did turn violence off in options I didn't think about that at all thanks for bringing that up.
Hooray, I was agreed with. But yes, remember in the newest movie (pro moves/super moves) that all blood was off? There's obviously a violence control menu that Midway is using, and probably effects fatalities as well as normal gameplay
