The White Lotus Society was a secret order of Shaolin monks started by the Great Kung Lao before his defeat by Goro in Mortal Kombat, 500 years ago. However, after Shang Tsung's loss to Liu Kang, Shao Kahn sent Tarkatan hordes to Earthrealm to destroy the Temple of Light and kill all warrior monks. Liu Kang and Kung Lao began rebuilding the White Lotus Society after the events of Mortal Kombat II, but where halted when Shao Kahn invaded Earthrealm. The current status of the White Lotus Society is unknown, at this time.
