In Mortal Kombat 3, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, and Mortal Kombat Trilogy, a kombatant could show his opponent mercy instead of performing a fatality. This move gave the loser a small amount of energy back so they could continue fighting. If the original loser was defeated again, the winner could now perform an Animality finishing move.
