Introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deception, the Hara Kiri was a way for a defeated player to deprive his opponent the satisfaction of performing a fatality. If the losing player could enter the button combination for their kombatant's hara kiri faster than the winner could enter their kombatant's fatality combination, the loser would perform an honorable, yet gruesome, suicide finishing move.
