Netherrealm Studios Hit With Mass Layoffs

According to Insider-Gaming and many other sources, the entire mobile team at Netherrealm Studios has been let go. It's being reported that roughly 50 people have been affected. More▼

“Good morning internet. Unfortunately, yesterday NetherRealm’s mobile team was shut down,” quality assurance analyst Tony Lazzara posted. “A ton of very talented people were put out of work.”

“It hurts me to announce I’ve been laid off from NetherRealm Studios after about 10 years of working there,” Animator Elizabeth Ramirez said.

This is an unfortunate development. Maybe this is a sign that gamers are getting tired of microtransaction driven games, and it's just not a sustainable model for larger studios like Netherrealm.

Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns Official Announcement Trailer

During a panel today at the San Diego Comic Con, Netherrealm Studios unveiled tons of new details of what's in store for Mortal Kombat 1. More▼

The Khaos Reigns expansion will consist of all new story chapters and a Kombat Pack 2, which will include new versions of Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob Saibot, along with guest characters Ghostface from the Scream movie franchise, Conan the Barbarian, and the T-1000 from Terminator 2.

Also revealed at the end of the trailer is that Animalities will be returning as a free update to all who purchase the expansion.

The Khaos Reigns expansion is set to release on September 24th. Pre-ordering will also earn you four free skins - Wedding Scorpion, UMK3 Sub-Zero, Empress Mileena, and UMK3 Noob Saibot.

Kameo Assist Ferra Release Delayed

The official Mortal Kombat 1 Twitter/X feed has delivered some disappointing news. The release for upcoming Kameo assist Ferra will now be pushed back to coincide with Takeda's early access on July 23rd. More▼

o basically, DLC guest character Homelander will not get an official Kameo counterpart with his release.
