Actress Brenda Barrie had recently updated her resume on her official website listing motion capture work for Kitana in MK9. However, along with that addition, she also listed a release date for the game as 12/25/2010.
UPDATE (03/08/2010): Ed Boon recently posted on his Twitter account "9 + 25 = FALSE", which I can only assume means MK9 release on December 25th isn't true.
Now, we can all be skeptical. It is strange to release a game as violent as Mortal Kombat on Christmas day. But what's even stranger is that she updated her resume again afterwards and removed the MK9 entry completely. She removed the motion capture section as well, and now only lists Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe under the "FILM / TELEVISION / VIDEO GAMES" section.

Was it a mistake on her part? Maybe. Did Warner Bros. tell her to remove the MK9 info? Another possibility. But the fact remains, it was there, and now it's not. Believe what you will.

On February 19th, actress Dana Lyn Baron posted a news update on her official website where she confirms she will be providing voiceover work for Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat 9. Baron was also the voice of Sonya in 2008's Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.
In September — right before I left for Paris & the South of France — I reprised my role as Sonya Blade for Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s next installment of the MORTAL KOMBAT videogame.
While this doesn't confirm she is a playable kombatant, it does give Sonya fans hope that she is at least in the game in some form.
